Jet [no ads]

Jet is a chat program that allows you to send audio and text instant messages.

This is the pay-for version and does not have adverts.
There is also a free version which has a single add banner.

The main differences between Jet and other chat programs, are:

1. you can use your mobile device's microphone to send audio instant messages

2. Private Messages are sent using an e-mail like mechanism so you wont lose them

3. audio messages can be played-back from other mobile devices that have Jet installed

4. audio messages can be played-back from a basic web page (believe it or not)

5. audio messages can be played-back also from a Java WebStart application. The Java application can also send audio Instant Messages that can be played-back from this Jet application so we can send Instant Messages, audio and text, back and forth between mobile devices and PCs


Users are encouraged to register a user name and password. Registration is free and no personal, Internet contact details or location data is required. Registration is used only to encourage decent behaviour.

To join or create a new channel, type:
/join channelName

To see a list of the ten most active channels, press the menu button and select: Active channels

'Active channels' is experimental and I hope to get feedback on whether it is useful or not.

After registering you are given your own channel number which you can use or ignore. You will also receive some web space where you can blog, sell stuff and do other things too.

search the page to find your web pages. Your channel number will be sent to you via P.M. just tap the P.M. tab in Jet.

I always hang around channel 218 (Jet's default channel) so if you have any questions just ask.

The web site is ad-free and probably always will be and will evolve as I gather feedback.

Recent changes:

- a 'Thank you for registering' P.M. is received after registering

Other:
- There is now a pay-for version for those who don't like in-app adverts.
- The pay-for version does not have the ad-banner.
- A Java WebStart version of Jet is available from logFarm.co.uk and it does not have adverts. The Java and Android versions can communicate normally using both audio and text messages.
